A True Paradigm Shift in Cardiac Technology: D-SPECT Imaging

Philip Patel, MD, President of Eisenhower Desert Cardiology Center, has this to say about D-SPECT imaging: This is a truly revolutionary way of looking at nuclear cardiology pictures and allows us to diagnose patients with coronary artery disease.”

Prior to having this type of technology, patients often had very long periods of time where they were exposed to radiation to enable their cardiologist to get the images and data they needed for diagnosis and ongoing heart disease management. This new technology radically reduces that time, which is a benefit on several levels, including patient comfort.

D-SPECT technology provides significant advantages to both doctor and patients. Dr. Patel covers that and more in this Health Insights blog video:

  • Traditional nuclear technology
  • Digital nuclear cardiac technology
  • Reduced radiation exposure
  • Improved imaging precision
  • Adaptability to patient size

As with many breakthrough technologies, such as D-SPECT, it often takes years for the technology to be put into everyday practice in hospitals and medical centers. Eisenhower Health actually has, and uses, two D-SPECT cameras to assist cardiologists in diagnosing and treating cardiac patients with tremendous accuracy.
