Cardiac Health: Salt Intake, Stiff Heart and More

“Everybody over the age of 50 has some amount of a stiff heart… this can cause people to feel more short of breath,” says David Choe, MD. If you’re wondering what a stiff heart is and what it has to do with the amount of salt in your diet, this cardiac health update is for you!

Managing high blood pressure is an important health issue, particularly for cardiac patients. Elevated sodium (salt) intake can cause trouble in that regard. Yet blood pressure trouble can be managed if you have the knowledge and will to do it. Dr. Choe, a Board Certified Cardiologist at the Eisenhower Desert Cardiology Center in Rancho Mirage, California, makes the case for why managing salt intake is in our best interest.
