Do You Know Your Risk for Diabetes? Eisenhower’s Free Online Tool

There are more than 34,000,000 people in the US who’ve been diagnosed with diabetes! How do you know if you’re at risk? Eisenhower Health offers a free Diabetes Risk Profiler tool you can use online in the privacy of your own home to assess your risk for diabetes. And, you’ll get tips for the next steps to take based on the information you provide.

Why should you care? Diabetes can cause serious health problems, including heart disease, stroke, kidney damage and more. Proper treatment and management is critical to prevent these conditions. Unfortunately, nearly one in four people with diabetes doesn’t know that they have it, and 90% of those with prediabetes – high blood sugar levels that usually lead to diabetes – aren’t even aware of their condition

Food for thought from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s 2020 National Diabetes Statistics Report:

  • About 1 in 10 Americans has diabetes.
  • 88 million American adults—approximately 1 in 3—have prediabetes.
  • The percentage of adults with prediabetes who were aware they had the condition doubled between 2005 and 2016, but most continue to be unaware.

Those are truly staggering numbers – yet they don’t tell you anything about where YOU stand. Only you can do that, and a great first step is to take the free Diabetes Risk Profiler. It only takes a few minutes of your time. Your results are nearly instantaneous. Knowing your risk factors is the first step in making the changes you need or getting the treatment you need to PREVENT or MANAGE diabetes.

If your doctor diagnoses pre-diabetes, take heart. With lifestyle modifications, it’s possible to delay or even prevent the onset of diabetes. Eisenhower’s Diabetes Program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association. This program is designed to help you make changes and develop healthy habits that will help you prevent Type 2 diabetes.
