Eisenhower Health Nurses Achieve Magnet® Recognition – Again

If ever there were a time when nurses matter… that just might be now. And, we’re proud to report that Eisenhower Health has again achieved Magnet Recognition – for the second time – reinforcing a commitment to nursing excellence.

The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program distinguishes health care organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence. In fact, this credential is the highest national honor for professional nursing practice. Watch this video as Eisenhower is formally notified of the UNANIMOUS decision to award Eisenhower Health with Magnet Recognition — again!

We’d like to let you know just some of the many reasons why we’re so proud to receive this coveted recognition:

  • Just 520 U.S. health care organizations out of more than 6,300 U.S. hospitals have received Magnet recognition.
  • Eisenhower Health is the ONLY hospital in the Coachella Valley to earn this distinction and one of only 35 hospitals in California.
  • Research shows that Magnet recognition provides higher patient satisfaction with nurse communication, availability of help and receipt of discharge information.
  • Another specific Magnet benefit is lower risk of 30-day mortality and lower failure to rescue rates.
  • Importantly, there is higher job satisfaction among nurses and lower nurse reports of intentions to leave their positions.

The Magnet Model provides a framework for nursing practice, research, and measurement of outcomes. This framework is used to evaluate applicants across a number of components and dimensions to gauge an organization’s nursing excellence. Organizations must pass a rigorous and lengthy process that demands widespread participation from leadership and staff.

“Now more than ever, Eisenhower Health is honored to achieve Magnet recognition as our nurses demonstrate their tremendous commitment to delivering the highest quality care to our community,” says Ann Mostofi, MSN, RN, Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President, Patient Care, Eisenhower Health. “To earn Magnet recognition once was a great accomplishment and an incredible source of pride for our nurses. Our repeated achievement of this designation underscores the foundation of excellence and values that drive our entire staff to strive harder each day to meet the health care needs of the people we serve.”

The timing for this recognition couldn’t be better, when our nursing staff is at the front-line of the COVID-19 fight, applying all the skills, training and compassion that generated this recognition to outstanding patient care during this challenging time for our community. And taking significant personal risk to do so; this is who they are.

GREAT NEWS!!!

U.S. News & World Report has released its prestigious annual hospital rankings. Eisenhower Health ranks #1 in the Inland Empire and #12 in California. Eisenhower Health was also rated High Performing in 20 types of care — the highest number of specialty recognitions earned by a hospital in the Inland Empire.
