Stroke Symptoms – Don’t Ignore Stroke Warning Signs

When asked what stroke symptoms to look out for, John Dix, BSN, RN, Certified Emergency Nurse and Stroke Certified Registered Nurse at Eisenhower Health in Rancho Mirage, California, didn’t mince words.

Typically a stroke is going to present very suddenly – it’s not going to be a gradual onset, it’s going to be a sudden onset of weakness on one side of the body. Facial droop, slurred speech, trouble coming up with your words or naming objects. It could be a sudden onset of dizziness, headache, balance problems or even vision changes.”

John goes on to point out that “time is the most important thing… we really only have a couple of hours to do the most benefit to save your brain tissue, so coming in quickly is the most important thing.”
