Asked whether one COVID-19 vaccine type is best, Eisenhower’s Chief Medical Officer, Alan Williamson, MD, said: “No, I really think all of them have shown tremendous effectiveness… the most important thing for people to really focus on is just get the vaccine as soon as you can and don’t worry about which one it is – all three are very, very effective.”
Dr. Williamson discusses the recently approved J & J vaccine in greater detail in this two-part video interview with KESQ’s news anchor, Peter Daut, as well as the current dramatic improvement in the COVID patient trends at Eisenhower’s hospital and several key issues relating to COVID and vaccinations. (Please note this interview aired the first week of March.)
In this Health Insights two-part video blog update – Dramatic Eisenhower COVID Improvement + J & J Vaccine – Dr. Williamson covers whether there is value in choosing one vaccine type over another, the dramatic improvement in COVID patient trends at Eisenhower Health and the following:
- Riverside county tier status
- J & J vaccine effectiveness

It’s important to bear in mind that large numbers of people are not showing symptoms and are passing the virus along before they even know they have it. This, and other reasons, argue for maintaining precautions until the data show COVID-19 is under control so we can protect ourselves, our families and our most vulnerable populations that can’t launch good immune responses. We all have a role in this!
