Eisenhower Health is about to give birth to our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), an important part of the most advanced maternity program for Coachella Valley: the Eisenhower Family BirthPlace. And there’s a lot to celebrate with the opening of this eight-bed, state-of-art NICU facility.
When having a baby, parents and grandparent always hope for things to go smoothly and the baby to be in optimal health. Sometimes things don’t go entirely as planned and that’s when a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit — NICU — can quickly assess the situation and take action.
Eisenhower’s NICU specializes in taking care of ill or premature infants with advanced technologies and specially trained staff that provide the clinical care those infants require. We’re proud of the collaboration within the Eisenhower Health family and the Coachella Valley community that has made this incredible NICU possible. And we’d like you to know just what makes this NICU so special for “our” babies and their parents.

Giving birth to Eisenhower’s NICU was truly a community effort that has even impressed Julie Reaume – who has 37 years of experience in the NICU world: “It’s great to watch the entire hospital really get behind this whole service… The community has been amazing. We have donors that are making this possible for us to get those advanced technologies and get these special private rooms for our families. So really it’s a huge family from an Eisenhower perspective but even from the community. It’s really something I’ve actually never worked with, so it’s something I’m really excited about.”
