About one in every eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. That’s a sobering statistic which underlines the importance of early detection. Yet it’s not always easy to get the latest information and guidance that you can rely upon.

“Screening mammography has been demonstrated unequivocally to show reduced mortality from breast cancer… the bottom line is that breast cancer is a very prevalent disease within our society… and the one modality that we have that has had randomized control trials that have proven a mortality benefit from screening is mammography,” asserts Dr. Sylvan, Medical Director, Eisenhower Schnitzer/Novack Breast Center.
