The Eisenhower Family Birth Center, built with the help of some of the best experts in maternity care, is to be birthed this winter*. “It’s like a dream come true. I was given the opportunity to basically build the NICU or neonatal intensive care unit of my dreams. So, in addition to a highly skilled staff, we have a brand new state-of-the-art facility and everything we need is literally at our fingertips,” enthuses Jamie Tannenbaum, MD, Director, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Eisenhower Family Birth Center in Rancho Mirage, California.

A key feature of the new Eisenhower Family Birth Center is its focus on family-centered care. With COVID raging, there’s a temporary shift in that. “Normally we would have siblings and in-laws and aunts and uncles all present, if that was something the couple wanted, but at this point (in the COVID surge), it’s usually the spouse or support person and maybe a doula if they have one,” says Veronica Williams, RN, Director, Maternity Services at Eisenhower Family Birth Center.
