Quick Video Tip: Back Sprain & Back Strain Treatment

Golf and tennis are two very popular sports – and great for our overall well-being. Yet the incredible twist and torque activity involved in a golf or tennis swing can sometimes have a downside: injury. Usually, these injuries are a back strain or back sprain that will get better.

A small percentage of people develop more serious problems from these injuries. More serious injuries can range from neck or back pain, arm or leg pain, numbness, tingling sensations or weakness to pinched nerve conditions or even a herniated disc.

“Knowing the difference between a back strain or back sprain and more serious problems is the first step toward gaining relief,” says David Tahernia, MD, a Board Certified, fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon with Eisenhower Desert Orthopedic Center in Rancho Mirage, California. In this Quick Video Tip: Back Sprain & Back Strain Treatment he discusses:

  • How injuries happen
  • Mainstays of initial treatment
  • Symptoms of more serious problems

If you suffer from back strain or back sprain or more serious problems, understanding what to do for the severity of your situation, and proceeding accordingly, is a helpful first step back to wellness. And, a step back to the golf course and tennis courts!
