September Spotlight: Blood Cancer and Gynecologic Cancer Awareness

September is a significant month in the fight against cancer. Not only is it Blood Cancer Awareness Month, but it also highlights Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Day on September 30. At Eisenhower Health, we are committed to educating our community, supporting patients, and advancing care through expert-led treatment and resources.

Understanding Blood Cancer

Blood cancers, such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma, begin in the bone marrow or lymphatic system, where the body produces and regulates blood cells. These cancers disrupt normal blood cell development, often resulting in anemia, weakened immune systems, and impaired clotting.

Early detection and treatment for these types of cancers are key. Symptoms can sometimes be mistaken for more common health conditions, which is why awareness and education are critical.

As part of our dedication to education, Eisenhower Health invites you to attend a free community lecture:

This in-person program will provide valuable information about detection, treatment, and the patient journey, with time for audience questions.

Understanding Gynecologic Cancers

Gynecologic cancers include cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar cancers. Each has unique risk factors and warning signs, but many women may not recognize symptoms until the cancer is more advanced.

That’s why Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Day on September 30 serves as an important reminder: regular screenings, listening to your body, and talking openly with your physician about changes are vital steps in protecting women’s health. This short podcast, “Cancers of the Female Reproductive System,” discusses risk factors, the importance of regular wellness checks for women, and the latest treatment options available from Eisenhower Health’s gynecologic oncology specialists.

Moving Forward Together

Cancer can touch anyone’s life—but knowledge, awareness, and access to expert care can make a world of difference. Eisenhower Health continues to stand at the forefront of cancer education and treatment, helping patients and families navigate their care with compassion and expertise.
