U.S. News and World Report Ranks Eisenhower Health #1

U.S. News & World Report announced its prestigious annual hospital rankings and, once again, Eisenhower Health was recognized as #1 in the Inland Empire and #20 in California, placing Eisenhower among the top 5% of hospitals in the state. Eisenhower was also rated High Performing in nine types of care. Impressive distinctions. Why does this matter to you?

The annual best hospitals rankings and ratings, now in their 31st year, are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or for common elective procedures. Eisenhower Health is proud of this tremendous honor and all that it means for our medical professionals and the Coachella Valley community.

“For more than 30 years, U.S. News & World Report has been helping patients, along with the help of their physicians, identify the Best Hospitals in an array of specialties, procedures and conditions,” said Ben Harder, managing editor in chief of health analysis at U.S. News. “The hospitals that rise to the top of our rankings and ratings have deep medical expertise, and each has built a track record of delivering good outcomes for patients.”

For the 2020-21 rankings and ratings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 16 specialties, 10 procedures and conditions. In the 16 specialty areas,134 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty. In rankings by state and Metro areas, U.S. News recognized best regional hospitals based on high performance rankings across multiple areas of care.

In addition to its #1 Inland Empire ranking, Eisenhower Health was also rated high performing in nine types of specialty care areas — the highest number of specialty recognitions earned by any hospital in the Inland Empire. Those high performing specialties include:

  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
  • Aortic Valve Surgery
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Colon Cancer Surgery
  • Heart Failure
  • Hip Replacement
  • Knee Replacement
  • Lung Cancer Surgery
  • Orthopedics

The U.S. News Best Hospitals methodologies in most areas of care are based largely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival in discharge-to-home rates, volume, and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.

How does the Eisenhower Health family feel about this?

“Recognition by U.S. News & World Report is a tremendous honor,” says G. Aubrey Serfling, President and Chief Executive Officer, Eisenhower Health. “To be ranked #1 in the Inland Empire four out of the past five years is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our physicians, nurses and staff. In the midst of fighting against a global pandemic, I have been inspired daily by how our staff has met every challenge before them — with the same commitment to save, compassionate care and the same level of excellence our community has come to expect from Eisenhower Health. This honor belongs to every member of our organization.”
