Why is Electrophysiology (EP) Technology Such a Big Deal?

Did you know your heart has an electrical system? That fluttering heartbeat may be love… then again it may be a sign that your heart’s electrical system is having difficulty. And that’s when finding a health care resource with the latest electrophysiology technology and skilled electrophysiologists becomes so important.

“We try and help our patients as best we can when they come to us complaining of either low or fast heart rate,” states Evan Diamantakos, DO, a specialist in Electrophysiology who is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease at Eisenhower Desert Cardiology Center (EDCC).

EP studies enable cardiologists with a subspecialty in electrophysiology to perform a detailed evaluation of the electrical activity in a patient’s heart, identify and diagnose heart rhythms (arrhythmias) and recommend treatment options. In other words, electrophysiology is an incredibly advanced tool to improve abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias).
