There are more than 30.3 million people in the United States (2017 statistic) who have been diagnosed with diabetes and 84 million with prediabetes, says Marielena Cid, MSN, RN, Diabetes Program Manager at Eisenhower Health. People who already have family history with diabetes – meaning someone in their family has (or had) diabetes – are going to be at higher risk themselves.
Over time diabetes can cause severe damage throughout the body. So, what can be done? The good news is diabetes can be managed. As with everything, knowledge and support play a huge role in success.
